I-5, Steilacoom-DuPont Rd. to Thorne Lane Corridor Improvements

Contract summary

This project will widen 4.9 miles of I-5 between the interchanges with Steilacoom-DuPont Road (Exit 119) and Gravelly Lake Drive (Exit 124.) This portion of I-5 passes through Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), between the cities of DuPont and Lakewood. The project will include the following:

Widening I-5 from Pendleton Avenue to Gravelly Lake Drive to provide four through lanes each direction as well as northbound auxiliary lanes between Exits 122 – 123 and 123 – 124.

Reconstructing the Berkeley Street (Exit 122) interchange including local roads in the City of Lakewood and crossing Camp Murray’s commercial vehicle entrance. The approach zone to JBLM’s Madigan gate will be reconstructed as part of the interchange improvements.

Reconstructing the Thorne Lane (Exit 123) interchange including local roads in the City of Lakewood. Additional features include illumination, signing, ITS, noise walls, and stormwater management facilities.
