One-day training, with two dates to choose from. This training focuses on
teaching the principles of erosion and sediment control and how to best apply these principles to existing site
conditions. Class participants will learn how to select, install, inspect, and when to remove BMPs under a
variety of different conditions. Many of the BMPs will be tested with water (provided by a water truck) to
simulate, as closely as possible, actual conditions that would be encountered in the field. This class meets the
requirements as described in the Regional Road Maintenance ESA Program Guidelines for Track 3F training.
Active Transportation Planning Basics
Do you want to make walking and bicycling easier and safer for people in your community? Are you challenged by limited data and resources (or other constraints)? A great way to put your agency on the path to achieve its active transportation goals is to develop a plan specific to these travel modes. This short two-part training will provide an introduction to active transportation planning in Washington State. The first session will present on active transportation planning foundations, different ways for local agencies to establish a plan, and relevant state requirements and similar considerations. The second session will delve further into the key components of excellent active transportation plans, including community engagement, data collection and analysis, project prioritization, and funding and implementation strategies. Both sessions will feature examples of how a range of communities from around the state are setting the course for improved walking and bicycling access and safety. The training sessions are designed to build on each other but can also be taken separately.

Slow down – lives are on the line.
Excessive speed was a top cause of work zone collisions in 2024.
Phone down, eyes up.
Work zones need our undivided attention.
It's in EVERYONE’S best interest.
96% of people hurt in work zones are drivers, their passengers or passing pedestrians, not just our road crews.
