Crews are repaving approximately four miles of southbound I-5 between mileposts 193-188. This project began July 19 and will last through the fall. Up to four lanes of southbound I-5 between mileposts 193-188 will close each week at the following times until this project is complete.
- From 7 p.m. Saturday, to 9 a.m. Sunday.
- From 7 p.m. Sunday, to 5 a.m. Monday.
- Nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesday to Friday mornings.
- The Broadway to southbound I-5 HOV on-ramp will also close during this time, reopening at 6 a.m. weekdays.
Grinding will temporarily create areas of uneven, grooved pavement with abrupt edges and motorcyclists should use extreme caution.
Project overview
This project will grind and pave about four miles of southbound Interstate 5 in Everett, from Broadway Avenue to 100th Street Southeast. Crews working for WSDOT will replace aging pavement, creating a smoother driving surface for years to come. This project will also replace impacted traffic loops, pavement markings and replace bridge joints.
What to expect
Contractor crews began work July 19, 2025. Travelers can expect shoulder, ramp and up to four-lane closures in this six-lane section of I-5. For ramp closures, traffic will be detoured to the next southbound I-5 exit.
