Project overview
Phase 1 was part of a 15-mile corridor improvement project to improve safety and reliability and reduce congestion along I-90 from Hyak to the Easton vicinity.
What to expect
Construction for this project phase is complete.
Phases 1 and 2 of the I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East project widened I-90 from four to six lanes, stabilized rock slopes, built bridges and connected wildlife habitat.
We increased capacity and improved safety by:
- Adding a new lane in each direction
- Replacing deteriorating concrete pavement
- Reducing road closures due to avalanches
- Adding and replacing bridges and culverts
- Straightening sharp curves
- Stabilizing rock slopes
