SR 104 - Paradise Bay - Shine Road & SR 19 - Intersection Safety Improvements

Beginning at 8 p.m. each night Monday, Aug. 11 through Thursday, Aug. 14 to 6 a.m. each following morning, travelers will see one-way alternating traffic at SR 104 and Paradise Bay Road. Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11 and Tuesday, Aug. 12 to 6 a.m. each following morning, the eastbound through lane on SR 104 at Beaver Valley Road will be closed. Eastbound traffic will divert through the roundabout. 

Project overview

This project improves safety along State Route 104 in Jefferson County at Shine Road/Paradise Bay Road and at State Route 19. At SR 19, a single-lane roundabout has been built. At Shine Road/Paradise Bay Road, a single-lane metered roundabout will be built. The meter will be active only after a closure at the nearby Hood Canal Bridge.

What to expect

All roadway work at the State Route 104/SR 19 intersection is complete.

The intersection at Paradise Bay Road/Shine Road is now in a roundabout configuration. Final paving is complete. Permanent roadway markings will be installed in August. The meter at Paradise Bay Road/Shine Road is installed, but not active.

The project is anticipated to finish in summer 2025.

Beginning in May 2024, contractor crews will start construction of two roundabouts on State Route 104.
