Project overview
This project will rehabilitate roughly five miles of US 395 from just north of SR 231 through Chewelah in Stevens County. The project includes removing the surface of the existing pavement and paving with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA).
What to expect
The project will be accomplished by removing the surface of the existing pavement, repairing portions of the underlying pavement, crack sealing, paving with Hot Mix Asphalt, and installing rumble strips. Chicanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic islands, bulb-outs, rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB’s), drainage modifications, and a shared-use path will also be a part of this project. Once completed, the roadway surface will have a smoother ride that will be preserved for years to come.
During construction, travelers can expect a reduced speed approaching the work zone and lane closures with flagging. Work in the town of Chewelah will be performed at night to limit impact to the traveling public.
