Construction begins on new US 101 Elwha River Bridge near Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES – The mighty Elwha River will soon have a new bridge spanning its banks. Work began Monday, April 17, on a brand new bridge, which will carry US 101 across the river and keep communities connected.

Airports can submit their applications for the first round of 2023-2025 Airport Aid Program grants. The Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation Division anticipates awarding $2 million in funding.
Bridge closure on SR 169 at the Green River Bridge near Black Diamond extended
The State Route 169 Green River Dan Evans Bridge south of Black Diamond will remain closed beyond the anticipated Monday, April 17, reopening. Crews anticipate bridge may open by Friday, April 21.
Following an overnight emergency closure, State Route 433 Lewis and Clark Bridge is now OPEN
LONGVIEW – The State Route 433 Lewis and Clark Bridge, which connects Longview, Washington and Rainier, Oregon, has been re-opened following overnight emergency repairs. The bridge reopened to traffic at 6 a.m. Thursday, April 13.

GIG HARBOR – Community members can learn more about a planned roundabout on State Route 302 at 118th Avenue Northwest during an online open house.
Emergency closure of Lewis and Clark Bridge in effect immediately for up to 24-48 hours
Beginning Wednesday, April 12 at 6:00 p.m. the State Route 433 Lewis and Clark Bridge, which connects Longview, Washington and Rainier, Oregon, will be immediately closed to all vehicles for emergency repairs.
Partial closure of Tacoma’s East 27th Street and Portland Avenue intersection April 14-17
Weather permitting, April 14 to 17, construction crews will close lanes at the Portland Avenue and East 27th Street intersection in Tacoma to replace an aging sewer pipe.
Change in plans: No long weekend closures required for SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge repairs
SHINE – Repairs to the SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge linking Jefferson and Kitsap counties will no longer require closing the bridge for four weekends during peak summer travel season.
Weekend-long closure on SR 169 at Green River Bridge near Black Diamond begins Friday, April 14
BLACK DIAMOND – All lanes in both directions of State Route 169 at the Green River Bridge south of Black Diamond will close for expansion joint repair starting at 9 p.m. Friday, April 14. Crews are estimating the bridge may reopen by Friday morning, April 21. Please see the updated news release for this closure.
Missing Tacoma pilot results with discovery of aircraft and body near Queets
OLYMPIA – On Monday, April 10, Washington State Department of Transportation Air Search and Rescue crews successfully identified a missing 2006 Cessna T182 Turbo Skylane piloted by Rod Collen in the wooded forests near Queets. The pilot was discovered deceased inside the aircraft, likely dying upon impact.
