What to expect

Construction on the North Spokane Corridor River Crossing began in the spring of 2023 and will last through the 2025 construction season. During construction, in water work and work to abutments will likely cause delays and disruption north and south of the Spokane River.

Specifically work around East Carlisle Avenue, Upriver Drive and North Ralph Street north of the Spokane River could have intermittent impacts. South of the Spokane River, Ermina Avenue into Spokane Community College and South Riverton Avenue could see various impacts.

Coinciding with construction of the new mainline North Spokane Corridor drivable section over the Spokane River will be the Children of the Sun Trail bridge. The pedestrian only bridge will be built parallel to the NSC drivable lanes over the Spokane River.

Map location of where the North Spokane Corridor River Crossing project is located within the city of Spokane.

This project is part of the overall North Spokane Corridor project that will build the future US 395 limited access freeway from I-90 up to the Wandermere area in North Spokane. Currently, 7 miles of the project are complete with the final 3.5 miles funded through the Connecting Washington package passed by the Legislature in 2015. Generally, projects have worked from north to south along the corridor and will continue until the completion of the North Spokane Corridor in 2030.

This project will connect two North Spokane Corridor projects. To the north the river crossing will connect to the Spokane River to Columbia project and to the south the Sprague to Spokane River - Phase 1 project.
