SR 520's Montlake Project: Summer steps forward, fall closures ahead
As summer gives way to fall, we want to catch you up with what’s been happening on the Montlake Project in Seattle. Here’s a recap of the progress we’ve made this summer – and what you can expect in the coming months.
Work to repair damaged Koontz Road bridge over northbound I-5 near Napavine begins next week
For nearly 22 months, the Koontz Road overpass, which spans Interstate 5 near Napavine, has been reduced to a single lane, forcing drivers to wait their turn in order to cross, but those delays will soon come to an end.
Work complete at SR 106 Twanoh Creek fish barrier removal site east of Union
UNION – A barrier to fish migration between the Hood Canal and Twanoh Creek is no more. Crews recently completed a culvert replacement project under State Route 106 at Twanoh State Park.

A project aimed to improve fish habitat in Purdy Creek under State Route 16 and the SR 302 Spur reached a major milestone in August. Our contractor reached the halfway point of the project at both locations.
Three-year project will bring HOV lanes and a redesigned interchange to DuPont and JBLM
Exciting changes are coming to southwest Pierce County. Our contractor has begun construction that will widen Interstate 5 for High Occupancy Vehicle lanes between 41st Division Drive and Mounts Road in DuPont.

Nine-day closure of SR 516 in Des Moines begins Sept. 15
DES MOINES – A full closure of State Route 516 for nine days in Des Moines begins Friday, Sept. 15, while crews work to replace a failing culvert that blocks fish passage on Barnes Creek. A signed detour will be in place for the duration of the closure, which ends Sunday, Sept. 24.
